Obit: Lorenzo Semple Jr.

One of the creators of the classic 1960s TV series Batman has passed away.

Lorenzo Semple Jr. is credited by IMDB as the developer of the campy 1966-68 TV series that starred Adam West as Batman. Semple also wrote 14 of the show’s 120 episodes, along with the 1966 big-screen movie. His other TV work including penning multiple episodes of Burke’s Law and The Green Hornet.

After Batman, Semple wrote the screenplays for a number of movies, including Flash Gordon, Papillon, Three Days of the Condor and the 1976 Jeff Bridges-Jessica Lange version of King Kong.

Semple died Friday in Los Angeles, one day after his 91st birthday.
