Comedian David Brenner has passed away at age 78.

Brenner was a frequent guest (with over 150 appearances) on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, guest hosting the show a reported 75 times in the 1970s and early 80s. Brenner later hosted a short-lived syndicated talk show in the mid 80s. He also has the rare distinction of starring in a primetime sitcom that was cancelled before it ever aired a single episode: Snip (1976).

David Brenner was married three times, most recently to former figure skater Tai Babilonia. He also leaves behind three sons.
