Sony Launches Classic Movie Service

First there was This TV. Then came Movies! Now there is getTV.

Sony Pictures Television launched a brand new digital programming service this afternoon called getTV. According to their website, getTV is a “new television network that brings the classic films you love to your living room. Enjoy the glamour of old Hollywood with legendary actors and award-winning films playing all day and night.”

The first movie on the schedule is Operation Mad Ball, a 1957 comedy starring Jack Lemmon. getTV airs a full 24/7 schedule of movies from the 1930s to the 1960s, offering another great free TV choice for classic movie buffs.

According to TVNewsCheck, getTV is launching in 25 markets, 17 of which are Univision-owned stations. Although Univision is a Spanish language broadcaster, getTV is broadcast in English.

Among getTV’s major market affiliates: WFUT 68.3 New York, KFTR 46.2 Los Angeles, WGBO 66.2 Chicago, WUVP 65.3 Philadelphia and KSTR 49.2 Dallas.

  1. My city Los Angeles were first people that got the channel on Univision sub channel 46.2 it is awsome

    I get following channel
    METV Antenna TV THIS TV Retro TV Bounce tv
    Movies tv network and now new Gettv

    • That’s great! Where I live I can only pick up the local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates, along with MeTV and This TV.

  3. I think eventually you get all those channel just launh here in SO CAL we really don’t get METV until six month later after it was launch nationwide THIS TV also

    Antenna TV Movies TV and GETTV are only network that we were launch originally here

    • Unfortunately I’m in a small market, so it doesn’t look very promising. If I were in the Philly area, I would get all the diginets. I’m waiting on our CBS affiliate to do something, as they have never had any subchannels. The NBC affiliate here runs MeTV, the ABC affiliate airs This TV.

  4. I think if you live in big market you get the channel I hear it slowly coming other places I keep looking over their channel availbty they adding more almost other week
